If you live in the Indianapolis area or can pick up Indy TV stations, PLEASE boycott Channel 13.
They have ignored our requests to stop airing Uncle Bill's Pet Store ads. We cannot give up. We proved what persistence can accomplish without emails and calls to the BOAH. The Indiana Board or Animal Health was listed on ICAW's website as their "friend" and supporter. ICAW is vehemently opposed to any puppy mill legislation. The BOAH sent their form letter to those of us who contacted them, giving excuse after excuse. Yet, we didn't give up and because of that, they now are not listed on ICAW's website as a "friend."
We are asking everyone to please continue to contact Channel 13 about this issue. This is such a critical time of year for dogs in puppy mills. Huge numbers of puppie's are bought during the holidays. Pet stores make 50-60% of their annual profits from Christmas sales, mostly puppies. Please write a letter or email to WTHR-TV (Channel 13) threatening to immediately boycott all local and NBC network TV, unless they permanently stop running advertisements for Uncle Bill's Pet Stores. The Uncle Bills ads are heavily promoting buying puppies during the holiday season. Everyone should contact all of the following individuals:
Jim Tellus - Vice President and General Manager: jtellus@wthr.com (He runs the station)
WTHR-TV
1000 N. Meridian Street
Indianapolis, IN 46204
There may be other TV or radio stations that are advertising for Uncle Bill's. If you know of any, please also contact them. We are focusing in on Uncle Bill's because they are airing many commercials for Uncle Bill's AND because they know better. They ran the "Puppy Mill Pipeline" stories last year after doing investigations into puppy mills. They KNOW they are supporting puppy mills!
Also, please education everyone you know who may be purchasing a puppy. This is a huge time of year for puppy mill profits. Don't buy from pet stores who sell puppies! The more pet stores sell, the longer the breeder dogs will suffer in puppy mills. Never buy from an internet site or newspaper ad. Always, always, always see the parents and the environment where their dogs live. Reputable breeders will always invite you into their homes, require an application process and invite your questions. Better yet, ADOPT FROM A RESCUE OR SHELTER.
Remember to SUPPORT pet stores that do NOT sell puppies. Some of these are Pet Supplies Plus, Petsmart and Petco.
